A sharp fall in the US market overnight dragged down the mainland stock benchmark index by more than 3 percent on Friday to a 20-month low. Shares reverse course, drop 3.6% on profit-taking. Chinese equities fell more than 3.6 percent on Thursday, wiping out almost half of Wednesday's surge, as investors took profits.
